School of Vocational Training

The HMI-IHS School of Healthcare Vocational Training is a Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) accredited Training Centre and Assessment Centre offering healthcare skills training under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system programmes. These are train and place (TnP) programmes cater to job seekers who are interested to pursue entry level careers in the Singapore healthcare sector as well as for existing practitioners looking at upgrading themselves.

Currently HMI-IHS School of Healthcare Vocational Training offers 7 vocational programmes. The vocational training programmes equip students with theoretical and practical skills to work in various healthcare institutions.

Community and Social Services
(CSS Sector)
Community Health Care Assistant (CHCA)
Assist patients with feeding, cleaning, daily activities; transfer them to bed or wheelchair etc.
Healthcare Services
(HS Sector)
Health Care Assistant (HCA) - Acute Care
Provide healthcare support to patients in hospitals.
 
Health Care Assistant (HCA) - Mental Heath Care
Provide healthcare support to patients in mental health hospitals.
 
Clinic Administrative Assistant (CAA)
Provide clinical and administrative services to patients.
 
Operating Theatre Assistant (OTA)
Performing technical tasks and duties assigned by surgeons, anaethestists and theatre nurses.
 
Healthcare Attendant
Perform general duties like housekeeping, cleaning, transporting patients, assist patients with their hygiene, despatch service, etc.
Therapy Services
Therapy Assistant (TA)
Support therapist in helping patients who need therapy care or exercise, as well as other activities.

Perform general duties like housekeeping, cleaning, transporting patients, assist patients with their hygiene, despatch service, etc.

Upon completion of programme, students will be awarded the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Higher Certification, accredited by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

SPUR Funding

The SPUR funding covers up to 90% of course fee (before GST) with the remaining 10% paid by trainees (without employers) or employers (in-employment upgrading).

For eligible trainees who are faced with financial difficulty during the training period, WDA will provide them with monthly training allowance of up to $600, capped at $4 per hour. The training allowance will be administered by HMI-IHS.

For employers who send their workers to the training during office hours will be entitled to apply for up to $10 per hour absentee payroll, depending on workers’ age and qualifications. For more information, please visit http://app2.wda.gov.sg/web/Contents/Contents.aspx?ContId=650
