Do I need healthcare experience before I can sign for a course in HMI?

You do not need healthcare experience to sign for healthcare assistant courses. They equip you with basic healthcare theory and practice that are relevant to the industry. You will become an effective member of the healthcare team.

 

Is there any funding to subsidise me for a course in HMI?

If you are a Singapore citizen or PR, you will receive up to 90% course fee funding through the Skills Development Fund* and monthly training allowance through the Skills Redevelopment Programme* (*terms and conditions apply) when you sign up for our healthcare assistant courses.

 

What are the prospects of a healthcare professional?

The propspects are great, as the industry is receiving much attention with the government efforts to make Singapore a regional healthcare hub. Furthermore, there  will always be an ongoing need for healthcare professionals regardless, regardless of how the economy is performing?

 

Where can I work after taking a course in HMI?

You can work in acute care hospitals, community hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare agencies. HMI has good track record in the career placement of students after their successful graduation.

 

If I am a registered nurse from overseas, is there any course in HMI that will convert me to become a registered nurse in Singapore?

Yes, there is a 10-month course in Certificate in Nursing Practices for Foreign Educated Nurses (CFEN). If you have an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing with 3 years clinical experience in at least a 250-bedded hospital, a registered nurse licence, a good command of English, good health and no criminal record, you can sign up for this course.
